THE CHAMPIONSHIP
2001 Miami vs. 2011 Alabama

After 37 historic matchups, we have arrived at our Final Game of our computer simulated historical Champions Tournament (1996-2012).
REMEMBER: These are simulations completed by the algorithms of "What-If Sports", NOT simply our opinions. We set up the bracket and are publishing the results with commentary.
ALSO: This matchup was simulated 100 TIMES to help crown a champion

In the ultimate 'Grandaddy of them All' 2001 Miami defeated 2011 Alabama, edging them by a single game out of 100 simulations! Miami won 50 games, Alabama 49, and an inexplicable 6 Overtime TIE occurred (see photo).  No team led the series of games by more than 3 at any given point, demonstrating just how close these teams were. But in the end, it was 2001 Miami that proved its greatness, behind the arm of QB Ken Dorsey, the backfield of Willis McGahee, Clinton Portis, and Frank Gore, and the receiving core of Andre Johnson, Jeremy Shockey, and Kellen Winslow - this Canes offense simply couldn't be stopped all tournament. The vaunted Miami defense also did its part, headlined by LB Jonathan Vilma, NT Vince WIlfork, DE Jerome McDougle, S Ed Reed and CB Philip Buchanon.  Larry Coker caps off his 2001 dream season, and can add the prestigious Pick Six Previews All-Time Championship Trophy to the trophy case.  2001 Miami wins it - the Greatest Team of the 1996-2012 Era

The Infamous SIX OVERTIME TIE ... We broke the machine with this matchup:
